How Much Fiber Should We Eat On A Low Carb Diet?

pic1oYBQWI just saw on a Diabetes program that for every 14 grams of fiber you add to your diet than you need 10% less calories to feel full.

Dr Neal Barnard “Reversing Diabetes” on PBS Ex: 12 grams average American gets in their diet per day on a 2000 calorie per day diet + 14 grams of fiber= 26 grams then subtract 10% from 2000 calories and the next day, you only need 1800 calories the next day to feel full.

  • Dr Neal Barnard indicates that we should get 40 grams of fiber per day in our diet.
  • Average fruit has 3 grams  depending on size
  • Average vegetable has 4 grams  depending on size

How much should we get based on Atkins approach to dieting?

I don’t think fiber is different depending on your diet.  It seems like everything I have read says 25 to 40.
