What Is The Weight Watchers Core Plan?

coreCore, What exactly is it? I haven’t actually joined Weight Watchers, I’m just following it myself with a friend, so I don’t know everything about the program and I have seen a lot of you mention core recipes and such and I was wondering what it is.


I have been on Core for 11 weeks and I have lost 28 1/2 pounds so far! Only 40 more to go, Oh God. Anyway if you have any questions or want to talk let me know, I am always looking for weight loss buddies!

vs. Flex Plan

Question…Do you feel the Core plan works faster or slower than the Flex plan? I have been considering switching to the Core plan, but I am concerned about whether or not I can follow it well. I must admit the Flex gives you the ability to eat whatever you want as long as you don’t go over on your points. Is there anyone who is now on Core that can tell me what they like better about it compared to the Flex plan? I sure would appreciate any help. If I’m going to switch, I would like to do it on Saturday, my WI day. Thanks in advance for your info.

Ok, this is only my opinion and personal experience but I hope it helps you out! I have tried Flex before and always failed miserably I always ended up cheating and not really counting everything I ate. For example most slices of pizza are not small. I would still count it as small though. It would be like that for everything I ate! Anyway, my mom and her 2 girlfriends all went on Weight Watchers about a year ago. My mom and 1 friend did Core and the other did Flex.

Now my mom did not have to lose weight but she was uncomfortable yadayadayada so she ends up losing like 20 lbs in a few weeks and her friend lost 50! Her other friend is still on Flex and has only lost 19 lbs! She yo-yos back and forth a couple of pounds or stands still for long periods of time. I started 11 weeks ago and have already lost 28 1/2 pounds on Core. I admit, I am NOT STRICT. I do cheat once in awhile but I am still loosing weight. I have to really buckle down because I want to get the other 40 lbs off by Christmas. But I just find Core so much easier for me.

If you decide to switch or have more specific questions please ask. I have struggled with my weight my whole life and I really feel like I am finally getting a grip on it instead of it having a grip on me! Good luck with whatever you decide and stay strong! You can do it!

You see, I’ve been doing Weight Watchers for over 3 mos. now. And For the past 1 1/2 mos. I continue to lose or gain the same 2 lbs. I will admit, I think I am like you described, perhaps I’m not always counting everything I should, or I justify things, if you know what I mean.

I have been really thinking about the Core program, but was afraid that I wouldn’t do well and would gain back what I had already lost. I have lost 21 lbs. in 3 mos. But really want to get to a size 16-18 by my 40th birthday (12/31). I am in a 20 right now. I have been so frustrated and defeated lately and have almost given up. I think I might give it a try this coming week. I’m not sure I fully understand all of the core plan, but doesn’t hurt to try, right?

How do you handle things like pizza, etc? With flex, you figure points. But how do things like that work with Core? I have SO many questions. LOL Hope you don’t mind.You see, I have struggled with my weight for 16 years now. It took me a long time to get to the point where I wanted to do anything about it. I don’t want to EVER go back. My biggest goal is to never shop plus size again. If I reach that, I would be happy, regardless of what I weigh.

Well with the Core Plan, you still get 35 points a week to play with, so you can ‘cheat’ and have pizza :o) I used some of mine for the week on fried chicken tenders on my salad at AppleBee’s Made by ME!
